New York is filled with thousands of amazing places to visit throughout the state. However, it’s not possible to be everywhere at once. Because of that, it’s great that many of the most beautiful spots in the state feature live-streaming webcams that offer viewers the chance to take a tour of New York from their couch.
Here are a few of my favorite live-streaming cameras from throughout New York.
Times Square in New York City
This live-streaming camera offers a glimpse at this hub of the city from above. Watch as people walk through and enjoy this incredible space, see the famous billboards change, or simply enjoy the ebb and flow of the city from the comfort of your couch.
Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful and powerful waterfalls in the world. It’s also the most visited natural attraction in the state.
While an in-person visit should be on everyone’s bucket list, if you can’t visit today, you can still view the impressive Horseshoe Falls from your house.
The camera is positioned high above the waterfall and offers a great view of this incredible waterfall with New York on the upper part of the screen. While it is actually positioned in Canada, since half the camera overlooks New York, it’s been included here.
Skyline of Albany
Albany, the capital city of New York, features a very unique skyline thanks to some of the city’s interesting buildings.
High atop one of the downtown buildings, there is a great webcam that offers a view of the skyline and the Hudson River beyond it. If you’ve never visited the city before, this is a great camera to check out to see these unique buildings, but it’s also fun for those that want to see what current conditions are like in the city.
Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks
The Adirondacks is one of the most beautiful areas of New York, and this webcam overlooking Blue Mountain Lake is located in one of the most scenic parts of the area.
This camera live-streams from the Adirondack Experience, and visitors to this great museum can see this view for themselves in person. However, for those unable to visit the museum or who want to see what conditions in the area are like, this is a nice substitute.
Main Beach in East Hampton
This webcam is located near the end of Long Island on the southern side of the island. It offers a great view of the Atlantic Ocean and the beautiful beaches in this part of the state.
Take a few minutes to enjoy the peacefulness of the waves or watch what’s happening along the beach.
Downtown Glens Falls
Glens Falls is located in the southern part of the Adirondack region along the Hudson River.
From this great live-streaming camera, viewers can get a fantastic view overlooking this small town looking towards the river. In fact, you can even see the spray from the waterfalls that are connected to the area’s power plants.
The Skyline of New York City
The skyline of New York City is one of the world’s most beautiful, and nothing beats being there in person to see a great view of both the skyline of the city, as well as its bustling harbor.
If you can’t see it in person, however, this live-streaming webcam offers stellar views of the city and lets you see what conditions are like at any time of the day or night. It’s also a lot of fun to watch the boats traveling around the area. You can even see the Staten Island Ferry entering and leaving its port in Manhattan.
The Treman Bird Feeding Garden in Ithaca
The camera features a close-up view of several different bird feeders that are perched on the edge of a beautiful lake. Many different types of birds can often be seen intermingling at these popular feeders, especially during the springtime.
While some other cameras on this list feature more passive views that don’t change much, this camera is always changing and providing interesting views for viewers.
The Wild Center in the Adirondacks
The Wild Center is one of the most popular destinations in the Adirondacks, and they offer a webcam that features a variety of views around their grounds.
From the comfort of your couch, take a virtual tour of their property through the seven different views that they have set up. While the different viewpoints only work from a computer, you can still use your phone to get a great view of their building.
If you’ve ever wondered what conditions are like in the Adirondacks or simply want to enjoy the natural beauty of the area, this is a perfect camera to view.
The Brooklyn Bridge in New York City
From the comfort of your home, you can watch cars traverse this famous bridge, see what conditions are like in the city, or just soak in the area’s urban beauty without the stress of getting there.
Port Jefferson, New York
Port Jefferson is a community on the northern end of Long Island in Suffolk County, and they have set up a neat webcam overlooking a small port and Riverfront Park.
Not only is this camera a great way to see this beautiful part of Long Island, but it also allows you to see boats plying the river and people enjoying this scenic area.
Lake George in the Adirondacks
Lake George is one of the most popular destinations in the Adirondacks, but if you can’t visit to enjoy this charming town, take a boat ride on the lake, or learn about the area’s history, you’re in luck. There’s a webcam that offers great views of the lake throughout the year.
This webcam is set up atop a building on the edge of the lake and offers great views over the water and to the mountains on the far side. Take a few minutes to enjoy the beautiful scenery and watch the world go by.
Downtown Troy
Troy, New York sits on the eastern banks of the Hudson River just a short distance north of Albany and is a picturesque spot to see in person.
However, if you aren’t able to be there right now, there is a camera set up that offers great views looking north towards the city. The view is dominated by the Green Island Bridge, but you can also see the city in the distance, as well as Starbuck Island in the middle of the river.
Whiteface Mountain Summit in the Adirondacks
Whiteface Mountain is one of the High Peaks in the Adirondacks and a popular destination throughout the year with visitors.
If you aren’t able to visit the peak, there is a webcam set up by the Wild Center that offers views of the Adirondacks from the summit. This is a great way to see this area for the first time, see what fall colors are like, or to simply enjoy this impressive view.
Unlike the other webcams on this list, this one doesn’t provide a continual view. Instead, it takes a photo every minute that is shown on the page linked above. If you want to see a new photo, simply reload the page to see the latest image.
Long Island Sound in Montauk
Located at the very end of Long Island, Montauk is a charming community with access to both the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island Sound. If you aren’t able to visit, but still want to enjoy the beauty of the area, check out this live-streaming camera.
The camera is located at Duryea’s, a popular restaurant in the area, and offers great views of the sound and a dock extending out into it. This is also a great way to enjoy a beautiful sunset over the water or check out conditions in the area.
